The very straight, tapered roots of Deep Purple carrot grow 17-20cm (7-8”) long. These carrots are named for the fact that the purple characteristic runs right to the core, and they keep their colour when lightly cooked. The tops are strong for easy harvests, and the storage potential is great. This is a fine fall harvest carrot that is good for juicing and it looks amazing in salads. The sweet, smooth-skinned roots were a staff favourite from our field trials. This is a high yielding, very uniform variety for the market grower or home gardener.
Yellow Nantes type with similar sweet flavour to our best orange varieties. Gold Nugget’s 15cm (6”) bright yellow roots pair well with our other mid-season varieties like Redsun, Narvik, and Purple Haze for a tasty, colourful harvest. Hill to avoid green shoulders.
Caravel Certified Organic is a large, quick growing, nantes-type. The sweet, cylindrical 18-21cm (7-8") roots have blunt tips and are resistant to cracking. Their strong tops are tall and firmly attached, making harvesting an easier task. These carrots have smooth, orange skins means bunches are attractive on the market table.
A fantastic main season Nantes type from the same breeders of Yaya and Mokum. Narvik’s dark orange 18cm (7”) roots are attached to strong, upright tops that make harvesting a breeze. An excellent option for large scale plantings with good storage potential into the winter. Compared to Ya Ya, Narvik has stronger tops that market growers will appreciate. A more robust, main season variety.
This uniform, nantes type is blood orange right to the core--the red hue means it is rich in the natural antioxidant lycopene. The texture is crunchy and flavour is sweet but mellow. Add to meals for a boost of nutrition! Best grown for fall harvest as flavour is best when allowed to mature in cooler conditions.
