Does a run-in shelter need to be anchored, and what ground does it need?

Yes — anchor it. The run-in shelters and the Equine Storage include 30 in. auger anchors and steel foot plates; the Corral Shelter, the Pet Shelter and the small livestock shelter come with 15 in. augers, and the round portable shelter with spike anchors. Set them on level, well-drained ground where an auger can bite into firm soil, and keep the included corner boots in place so the cover does not chafe on the frame.

Which shelter size suits horses, cattle or an existing corral?

The run-in shelters come 12 x 20, 13 x 20, 13 x 24, 22 x 20 and 22 x 24 ft and stay open at the front so animals walk in and out; the 12 x 20 stands 8 ft at the peak. The Equine Storage 12 x 20 ft is the closed version, with two double-zippered front doors for hay, feed and tack. For an existing pen, the Corral Shelter 10 x 10 and 12 x 12 ft mounts on most corral panels with universal brackets, and its enclosure kit adds three 5 x 10 ft side panels plus a half-moon back panel. Smaller animals have their own sizes: the 8 x 10 x 5 ft round portable shelter, the 4 x 4 ft Pet Pavilion and Pet Shelter, and the pop-up dog shade canopies.

Can a fabric livestock shelter stay up through a Canadian winter?

Yes, with one job for you: clear heavy snow off the cover after a storm rather than letting it build into ice. The covers are UV-treated polyethylene or polyester — the Corral Shelter and its enclosure kit use a heat-sealed 7.5 oz triple-layer ripstop fabric — over a powder-coated steel frame. Keep the cover tensioned, check the anchors after a freeze-thaw, and add the enclosure kit made for your model if you want to close the shelter against the wind.
