How do I clean and maintain outdoor fabric products?
Care guide for outdoor fabrics (cushions, throws, canopy covers, curtains):
- Routine cleaning: Brush off loose dirt, then wipe with a damp cloth and mild dish soap
- Deep cleaning: Remove covers/cushions and machine wash on gentle cycle with cold water. Air dry — avoid high heat dryers that can shrink or damage UV-treated fabrics.
- Mildew removal: Soak in a solution of 1 cup white vinegar + 1 gallon warm water for 30 minutes, then wash normally
- Stain prevention: Apply a fabric protector spray (like Scotchgard) after each wash for added water and stain resistance
- Storage: Clean and dry thoroughly before storing for winter. Store in a breathable bag or container — avoid sealed plastic which traps moisture
