- Use caution: Drilling through frame members (weakens structure), adding weight to the roof (solar panels, hanging plants — check weight limits), extending the footprint with add-on sections
- Avoid: Cutting structural beams or rafters, removing bracing or cross-members, welding to galvanized steel (releases toxic fumes), modifying roof pitch or shape
Most manufacturers offer official accessories (shelving kits, anchor kits, wall panels) designed for safe modification. Using official accessories typically preserves your warranty.
