12x24 Carports

A 12 x 24 ft carport is the single-bay size with 4 ft more length than a 12x20: room for a crew-cab pickup with a long box, a car and a utility trailer, or a boat on its trailer, tongue included. Every model here is an Arrow all-steel carport: a 2 in. square-tube steel frame under a 29-gauge galvanized steel roof, in eggshell or charcoal, that goes together with slip-fit joints and self-drilling screws.

It comes 8′6″ or 10′7″ tall overall, open or closed in with 29-gauge galvanized steel walls on one or two sides. Arrow rates it for 100 mph winds and a 35 lb per sq ft snow load when it stands alone and is securely anchored, and backs it with a 10-year warranty. What fits under a 12 x 24 carport?

Inside it is 11′10″ wide and 24′3″ deep: a crew-cab pickup with a 6.5 or 8 ft box, a car plus a small utility trailer, or a boat on its trailer. Measure the trailer from the hitch to the stern or tailgate before you choose.

7 ft or 9 ft?

The 9 ft model stands 10′7″ overall against 8′6″ for the 7 ft one. Choose it for a van, a lifted truck, a roof box or a boat with a windshield, and compare your vehicle's height with the model's drawing before you order.

Open, or with side walls?

Open is the cheapest and the easiest to park under. A steel wall on the side facing the prevailing wind cuts drifting snow and rain; two walls make the carport a covered bay you can also use for storage. The walls are 29-gauge galvanized steel, matching the roof. Note that Arrow's wind and snow ratings are given for the carport without walls.

Does a carport need a permit?

Usually, because it is a permanent accessory structure: most municipalities set a maximum size and setbacks, and some require a permit.
