12x24 Portable Garages
A 12 x 24 ft garage is the single-bay size with length to spare: a crew-cab pickup, a car with a workbench and the snowblower behind it, or a boat on a trailer tongue and all. Every model in this size is a ShelterLogic ShelterCoat, a powder-coated steel frame under a heat-welded, waterproof polyethylene cover, in gray or green. Pick the roof: round, the one ShelterLogic rates for 90 mph winds and a 40 lb per sq ft snow load; peak, for a classic garage look; or barn, 9 ft or 11 ft tall, on a heavier 2 in frame.
Headroom sets them apart: the Barn 11 ft stands 10′10″ tall with a 103 in door, room for a van or a boat on its trailer, while the Peak stands 8′4″ and the Round 8′1″. 12x24 garage FAQ
What fits in a 12 x 24 garage?
One full-size vehicle with room to walk around it, including a crew-cab pickup, plus storage at the back, or a boat on its trailer. Inside, the Peak is 11′10″ wide by 23′7″ deep and the Barn 11 ft 11′8″ by 23′9″. Measure your vehicle's height, roof rack included, against the door opening on the product page.
Round, peak or barn roof?
The round roof sheds snow on its own and is the only one in this size with a published rating: 90 mph winds and a 40 psf snow load. The peak roof gives a classic garage look. The barn roof stays tall closer to the walls, for shelving and taller loads, and comes 9 ft or 11 ft tall on a 2 in frame; the 11 ft barn has the tallest door.
12x20 or 12x24?
The extra 4 ft is room behind the vehicle: a workbench, tires, a snowblower, or a longer pickup or trailer. If your vehicle is under about 17 ft long and you store nothing else, a 12x20 garage is enough.
How is it anchored, and what about snow?
ShelterLogic recommends one anchor per leg; the steel foot plates fix to ground anchors, concrete or a pony wall. Brush snow off the cover after every storm, even on the rated round model.
