13x20 Truck & SUV Garages

A 13 x 20 ft portable garage is the size built for pickups and SUVs: a foot wider than the usual 12 ft single and tall enough that a truck drives in without ducking its mirrors or roof rack. Every model has a door over 8 ft high. The ShelterLogic Garage-in-a-Box SUV/Truck was designed for exactly this, with a full 8 ft of door clearance under a reinforced alpine roof. The ShelterCoat comes with a round roof, rated for 90 mph winds and a 40 lb per sq ft snow load, or a peak roof 10 ft tall; both in gray or green.

Inside, every model is 19′8″ long. That takes most crew-cab pickups with a short box and every mid-size SUV, with room to open the doors: the Round is 12′11″ wide inside, the widest here. Will my pickup fit?

Check length and height. Inside, the garages are 19′8″ long, which clears most crew-cab pickups with a short (5.5 ft) box but not a crew cab with a 6.5 or 8 ft box. The door is 8 ft on the Garage-in-a-Box SUV/Truck, 100 in on the Peak and 102.5 in on the Round; measure your truck with its rack, cap or light bar.

Why 13 ft wide instead of 12?

Full-size trucks and SUVs are wide with the mirrors out and have long doors. The extra foot lets you open them without hitting the wall. The Round is 12′11″ wide inside, the Peak 12′3″ and the Garage-in-a-Box SUV/Truck 12′8″.

Which model handles snow best?

The ShelterCoat Round is the only one here with a published rating: 90 mph winds and a 40 psf snow load, and its curved roof sheds snow on its own. The Garage-in-a-Box SUV/Truck has a reinforced alpine roof but no stated rating. Brush any fabric roof after a storm, and see snow-load ratings explained.

How is it anchored?

One anchor per leg: the steel foot plates fix to ground anchors, concrete or a pony wall. A tall truck shelter catches wind, so anchor every leg before the cover goes on. Our portable garage assembly guide covers the set-up. The warranty is 1 year.
