4x6 Sheds

A 4 x 6 ft shed is a walk-up shed: you open the doors on the 6-ft side and reach in rather than walking inside, which suits a narrow side yard, a townhouse patio or the space beside a garage. It takes a push mower, a trimmer, rakes, shovels and the recycling bins. The Arrow line runs from the Classic 6x4 to the Elite 6x4; current prices are in the list below.

The Classic is galvanized steel with sliding doors and 5′10″ of headroom at the peak; the Select and Elite are taller at 6′4″, and the Elite is Galvalume steel with a 15-year warranty. The all-steel Shed-in-a-Box has a double-swing locking door, and the Resin Series is moulded resin with its own floor. What fits in a 4 x 6 shed?

A push mower, a string trimmer, long-handled tools, a wheelbarrow stood on end and two or three bins. You cannot step inside and close the doors, and a snowblower plus a mower will not fit together; for that, look at 6x8 or 8x8.

How big is it inside?

The Arrow Classic 6x4 is 5′11″ wide by 3′6″ deep inside, with 5′10″ at the peak. Arrow names its sheds width first, so the 6-ft side is the door side.

Which floor do I need?

Steel sheds have no floor. The Classic and Select 6x4 take the Arrow floor frame kit, the Elite 6x4 its own Elite frame; set either on a level gravel pad, or bolt the shed straight to a concrete slab. The Resin Series includes a floor.

Do I need a permit or anchors?

At 24 sq ft a 4 x 6 is far below the size at which Canadian municipalities usually require a permit, but setbacks from the lot line still apply, so check your bylaw. Anchor it either way, with the concrete anchor kit on a slab or the earth anchor kit on soil: an empty steel shed is light enough to move in a strong wind.
